As part of “Secure Societies”, an European wide effort to “Protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizens”, the EU assigns substantial funding to the New Operational Sensing sYstem (NOSY) project. The NOSY team, lead in partnership by Aero Sekur and SENSICHIPS, aims at developing new monitoring systems and miniaturized sensors to improve Law Enforcement Agencies’ investigative and evidence-gathering abilities. Throughout the project SENSICHIPS will develop miniaturized sensors for the detection of precursors and identification of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and new generation synthetic narcotics. Other project partners will design devices and a distributed monitoring system around SENSICHIPS’ sensors which will then be validated and trialed by 4 noteworthy European Law Enforcement Agencies: the Institut de Recherche Criminelle de la Gendarmerie Nationale of France, the Bundespolizei of Germany, the Raggrupamento Carabinieri Investigazioni Scientifiche of Italy and the Guarda Nacional Republicana of Portugal.
